Code Excursion began as the space we couldn’t find – a place where women* could explore tech without judgment, pressure, or stereotypes. What started as a small initiative has grown into a vibrant community of learners, mentors, and partners. Together, we create opportunities, share knowledge, support and inspire each other.
We believe in community over competition, purpose over pressure, and learning that makes space for life.Whether you’re starting from scratch or picking up where others told you to stop – we’ve got your back.
Our mission is to bridge the gender gap for women and minorities in the tech industry and STEM. We do this through three main pillars.
Education: We organise regular tech talks hosted at various tech companies in Zurich, in order to educate ourselves in a wide variety of tech topics ranging from data science and machine learning to blockchain and AI.
Community: We have created a wide community of women and minorities that is well aware of the need to help each other to succeed. Networking is very important to us, and we make it a key part of every meetup. Connections drive us forward.
Propulsion: We help each other through our mentoring program, which helps participants at various points in their careers through their own journey. We also provide a channel of visibility for those looking for work or willing to speak about their projects.
CSNOW was founded in 1993 and is part of the Department of Computer Science.
The goal of the network is to abolish gender-based barriers and prejudices, and to create a study and work environment that is comfortable for all. CSNOW believes that in a society where computer science plays such a large role, it is essential that women* are able to actively contribute their ideas, goals and thoughts, and to actively help shape the society.
We do not exclusively consist of women* nor are we only there for women*. Since we are convinced that many discussions are only possible with all members of the department, our team and many of our events are open to everybody.
