Igniting Change: Tanja Vainio’s Empowering Keynote at #wetechtogether 2024

by | Oct 28, 2024 | Career Advice, How to get into tech, Role Model | 0 comments

Switzerland’s tech landscape just got a powerful jolt of inspiration! The 6th edition of #wetechtogether, Switzerland’s largest conference on Diversity & Inclusion in tech, kicked off with an empowering keynote on 28 September. And girl, did we start strong!

📣Enter Tanja Vainio: President of Schneider Electric Switzerland, MIT alum, wife, mother and champion for women in tech. Her keynote? Nothing short of electrifying! (buckle up for a few more electric puns)

Breaking the Glass Ceiling, One Circuit at a Time

Did you know? In Switzerland’s tech scene, women represent:

  • 25% of the overall workforce
  • 30% of tech professionals
  • 28% of team leaders
  • A mere 18% of senior management

Shocking, right? But here’s where YOU come in. As Tanja puts it, “We have the responsibility, but also the opportunity to shape the future of tech.” Are you ready to seize that opportunity?

Tanja’s Tech Triumph Trifecta
  1. 🧩Skills: “The only thing born ready is a baby.” Preach, Tanja! It’s all about continuous learning in our fast-paced tech world. Remember: “What got you here won’t get you there.” Upskilling is your superpower in the fast-paced tech world.
  1. 🧠Mindset: Obstacles aren’t roadblocks – they’re the very path to success! Tanja’s golf analogy hit a hole-in-one: “It’s not about perfection, it’s about bouncing back stronger after each setback.”
  1. 🤝Support: No woman is an island in tech! Mentors, allies, and a strong support system are crucial. As Tanja puts it, “Energy is perhaps the most valuable asset we have.”

The Swiss Tech Revolution: Are You In?

Tanja’s journey from Finland to Switzerland, navigating six countries and juggling a high-powered career with family life, is nothing short of inspiring. But it’s her vision for Switzerland’s tech future that really gets our circuits buzzing!

🏔️ Just as the Swiss Alps face climate change, our tech industry faces a diversity challenge. But with the right skills, mindset, and support, we can create an avalanche of positive change!

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:
  1. Upskill relentlessly – in tech AND leadership
  1. Cultivate a growth mindset – failures are just pitstops on your success journey
  1. Build your support network – inside AND outside the office

Remember: “Personal empowerment drives collective progress.” So, how are YOU empowering yourself to drive the Swiss tech scene forward?
