We started with a panel of four women from different areas in tech; Patricia Egger, Cyber Risk Consultant at Deloitte, Carolyn Mattes-O’Brien Research Engineer at VirtaMed AG, Jen Jen Chung Senior Researcher at ETH Zurich and Susanna Tron, Analytical Specialist & Knowledge Engineer at SwissRe. Not only shared these women their story with us, from growing up with fixing cars and appliances to thinking becoming a lawyer is boring, they also shared their advice with the audience; why we have to speak up at the table and not underestimate what we are capable of. The future is bright – the future is tech, all the women agreed there are exciting times in tech ahead of us and all of us should ride this amazing wave and be part of it of this exciting industry.
Fully inspired the rooms were opened to get hands-on experience with the latest technologies! The team from the ETH Robotics Lab brought there latest robots to showcase how they can be put at use to inspect bridges. Red or Blue Labs enabled the attendees to dive into a new virtual world while Sensoryx made it easy to paint or play the piano without having an instrument. While some learned from the Deloitte Cyber Risk team how a blockchain app can be hacked, others focused on structured networking with We Shape Tech.
But what inspired me the most is to see, that we provided an environment that encouraged engagement, empowerment and celebration of all of us! The atmosphere was full of chatter, laughter and serious conversation about tech and how to find a meaningful career. Learning from each other and exchanging experience had to be the one thing all of us took home after this successful event.
So what else can I say then, it was…
… awesome!
