Deine Aufgaben
- Du überwachst und verbesserst unsere Entwicklungsplattform und sorgst für den reibungslosen Betrieb aller Tools, die während des gesamten Lebenszyklus der Softwareentwicklung eingesetzt werden.
- Du spielst eine entscheidende Rolle, um Verbesserungen auf der Grundlage von Entwickler-Feedback voranzutreiben, indem du Techniken wie Developer Journey Mapping anwendest, um die Gesamterfahrung zu verbessern. - Das Analysieren und Lösen von Problemen mit dem Tool-Stack und den Plattformen gehört zu deine täglichen Aufgaben. Deine Erfahrung mit Azure Cloud ist von entscheidender Bedeutung, da Du Dienste mithilfe von Automatisierungs- und Selbstbedienungslösungen erstellst, warten und entwickeln kannst.
- Darüber hinaus bearbeitest du Incidents, verwaltest und behebst Schwachstellen, reagierst auf Supportanfragen und implementierst notwendige Änderungen. Flexibilität ist der Schlüssel, da du für Wartungsaufgaben außerhalb der regulären Bürozeiten verfügbar sein solltest.
Dein Profil
- Du verfügst über eine solide IT-Ausbildung mit einigen Jahren Berufserfahrung

- Du bist mit den aktuellen Industriestandards vertraut und bildest dich ständig weiter

About Size & Fit
The Size and Fit team is tackling one of the most persistent challenges in the fashion industry: helping online customers confidently find and decide on the right size and fit. By doing so, we directly improve customer satisfaction, reduce returns, and drive sustainable, profitable growth. As an interdisciplinary team of applied scientists, software engineers, product managers, and design experts, we work holistically to deliver high-impact solutions with a focus on immediate, scalable results. While developing and maintaining proven, highly-adopted solutions such as ML-based size recommendations, we push the boundaries of what’s possible in online fashion by rapidly iterating our approaches with cutting-edge AI, including diffusion models, image and video generation, and 2D and 3D try-on experiences, to shape the future of Size & Fit.
As a Principal Applied Scientist (economics / experimentations) in the Size and Fit organization, you will design and implement state-of-the-art methods capable of accurately measuring the business and customer impact of the Size & Fit products in fashion. You will apply economic theories and principles to real-world business problems and have an amazing opportunity to work closely with exceptional scientists who are creating bold AI driven customer-facing products.. - Bring in your strong economics, experimentations, and scientific experience to develop and deploy advanced experimentation methods at scale.

We’d love to meet you if
- You have a PhD in Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research or related field with at least 4 years of industry experience in Applied Experimentation or Statistics.
- Strong fundamentals of Statistical Analysis.
- Deep understanding of the theory behind the state-of-the-art methods in your domain as well as a broad overview of data science best practices in your field.
- Proven industry experience in designing, executing, and analyzing A/B tests, including expertise in defining relevant metrics and a deep understanding of statistical power calculations.
- Experience in driving business / customer impact analysis and decision making in AI-driven customer-facing products.
- Data intuition: extensive experience of working with large online datasets, ability to identify appropriate statistical modeling assumptions and approaches.
- Strong coding skills in Python and/or R as well as experience with common big data processing and manipulation tools such as Spark and SQL.
- Nice to have: experience with Cloud Computing frameworks (e.g., AWS), other programming languages such as Scala.

To better support ETH students who work on digital projects, we are building up a Digital Makerspace. This initiative aims to provide hardware and software, digital expertise, and a strong community of digital innovators. Project background
You’ll be working in one of the most inspiring spaces at ETH Zürich – surrounded by 3D printers, computers, whiteboards, ideation tools, and custom-designed furniture.

In Forschung und Entwicklung:
- Weiterentwicklung und Profilierung des Fachgebiets Data Engineering am Institut, mit der Möglichkeit zum Aufbau einer eigenen Forschungsgruppe mit Mittelbau an unserem neuen Standort.
- Entwicklung und Erforschung innovativer Ansätze in den Bereichen Data Pipelines, Datenintegration, Streaming-Technologien, Cloud Data Platforms sowie deren Verknüpfung mit HPC- und AI-Anwendungen.
- Akquisition, Durchführung und Leitung anwendungsorientierter F&E-Projekte in Zusammenarbeit mit Industriepartnern und Förderinstitutionen.
- Fachliche und personelle Führung im Forschungsbereich.
- Aktive Mitwirkung an der strategischen Weiterentwicklung des Instituts und der Hochschule für Informatik.
Ihr Profil:
- Hochschulabschluss mit Promotion in Informatik, Data Science oder einem verwandten Bereich.
- Fundierte Erfahrung im Bereich Datenbanken und Data Engineering, idealerweise mit Projektleitungserfahrung in der Industrie.
- Bereitschaft zur Projektakquise und zur Vernetzung mit relevanten Akteuren in Forschung und Praxis.
- Hochschuldidaktische Qualifikation oder Bereitschaft, diese im Rahmen der Professur zu erwerben.

The role
As a Lead Data Platform Architect, you are responsible for architecting data platforms laying the foundation for advanced applications including AI.
