This is not a hashtag or a meme you can just post using Beyoncé’s picture… High profile role models are important in helping women reach board level. Senior women demonstrate that there is no limit on what others can achieve at the company, that the business values the contributions of women and makes a powerful brand statement. So sorry Beyoncé, we love you, but this time you don’t make the cut.

It’s important that we feel that culturally there’s a focus on recognizing the talents of women in a career framework. That society, in general, wants them to play important roles, and that we all support women to do so. Without role models, women can feel directionless and alone, so senior women – and men – must also be champions for the cause. For example, making sure that policies such as childcare and flexible working practices for both men and women are in place.

If you haven’t already, find a role model, be the role model you want to have and help other become role models for future generations.
