Make yourself non-interesting
Impersonalization (of data) to save cybersecurity
(bring your own laptop)
Description
In the digital age, where more and more technologies will generate an “infinite” amount of data, it will no longer be possible to control it or prevent its disclosure and use by third parties. Not only are people becoming more and more like products, but they are also powerless against the misuse of their data and the malicious actors who could use it to cause them harm. It is very important that we are sensitized, educated and trained to respond to this issue.
In this interactive workshop, we will address the importance of handling personal data collected on various platforms. First, we will demonstrate and show how to do targeted research on someone, using publicly available information. Then we will discuss the potential consequences and dangers such as social engineering or phishing attacks (spear phishing, vishing, etc.) that this potentially available data poses to a person and their environment. Finally, you will get practical tips on how to make yourself non-interesting in view of this matter.
This is a participatory workshop – bring your laptop with you!

AI4equality hackathon
Description
There are many examples of how AI maintains, strengthens and reproduces gender inequality. But how can AI instead be used to enhance equality? The NGO Women in AI have dug deep into this matter within the global AI for Gender Equality Project, resulting in a hackathon, where the three award winning teams will present their AI-innovations for equality: In this design-thinking-sprint you will get the chance to design your own AI4equality innovation – your own way of increasing gender equality with AI. This workshop is a collaboration between Women in AI and the Swedish Embassy in Berne. The workshop will be in English.

After some theory (strength, safe, scrum, agile mindset etc.) we work in small teams in order to get the REAL experience. How can you use strength of female employees to keep project successful. Our motto is – «just do it”, be brave and try – also if you are not very familiar with the agile approach.
This workshop will take place in English during the morning session and German during the afternoon session.
Speakers:
Dr. Karin Fischer (Lead “Center Excellence Project-Management”, Leadership Coach, Principal Consultant)

Who rules the Blockchain?
You can either bring your own laptop or use one of our prepared laptops.
Description
In blockchain technology new questions have to be answered, that weren’t answered before – at least in the tech world. One of these is: who makes the decisions in a peer-to-peer network like a blockchain? After a theoretic part and a group discussion, we will look at some code and have an actual election on a demo-blockchain. The demo-blockchain is written in Rust, using the Substrate Framework together with its Democracy Pallet. Who will win the election? Who will decide on the next software update? We are looking forward to an interactive session!

Jump into Geodata
Description
Are you a data scientist who has seen an interesting spatial dataset, but don’t know how to analyze it with the tools that you would normally use? Or a developer that wants to embed a beautiful spatial data visualization in a website or dashboard? Or maybe you have this cool idea for a project with spatial AI, but feel overwhelmed with things like different coordinate systems, weird file formats and tools with very unfamiliar names?
In this hands-on workshop we introduce you to the exciting world of geodata and spatial analytics. We will show you the first steps to start working on your own geodata project: you will learn about the most common geodata formats, where to find the data, how to read and process them. Together we will analyze a spatial dataset and visualize it. You will also get the chance to be able to try out your own ideas. For participants with more analytics experience, we will provide ideas on how to use geodata in the statistics and machine learning workflows.
To take the most out of the workshop, we recommend attending if you feel comfortable with reading Python code snippets. Bring your own laptop, installation of external tools will not be necessary.

Augmented reality solutions for the modern enterprise focused on improving efficiency and productivity
by Petra Donka
Description
Discover how augmented reality can help businesses enable their employees and consumers to interact with everyday objects in completely new ways by blending the physical and digital worlds using mobile computer vision. With a focus on real-world AR solutions, this session will explore how augmented reality can provide real-time insights to retail employees to see stock levels by scanning products in an aisle, to airline staff to view passenger details from a boarding pass, or to delivery drivers to see special instructions just by scanning a package. All this leads to improved efficiency, increased productivity and more opportunities for generating revenue. In today’s competitive world, especially in retail, operational efficiency is a way for competitive differentiation.

Agriculture 4.0 | Scale Vertical Farming by leveraging IoT and Image Analysis
by Giulia Schneider & Patrick Albrecht
Description
Growing plants in a vertical farm is like cooking a fine dish – it is essential to know when to add new ingredients, to be in full control of everything and to be able to taste (a spoon full) any time.
Conversely, data is key in learning how to get the best outcomes: minimize resources needed, optimize growth time, increase nutritiousness of the produce.
At Fruitful we leverage state-of-the-art tech: data streaming, image processing, and machine learning.
Discover how we combine tech with one of the oldest professions in history – farming.
